Iʼve used a lot of sequencers and the Hapax is to me, the end game sequencer for live performance. The built in modulation capabilities, dual project feature, and many many midi outputs are what sold me on the Hapax.

I also love the active user community on the Squarp forum and how frequent the Squarp team rolls out updates and takes into account feature requests.

At the moment, I donʼt think thereʼs another sequencer that does as much as well as the Hapax which is why I use it as the brain of my live set.

The Hapax is the centerpiece of my hardware rig. It supplies the clock and the majority of the sequencing for my entire rig. Itʼs greatest strength is that it serves as the master conductor of the my setup allowing me to send program changes that change the patterns on all of my other sequencers.

It makes me a better musician. It's so easy to create exactly what I want and it always sounds like me. Multi-track MIDI recording on the Hapax is incredible! I can arm the whole studio to record and create intricate music loops with separate tracks and effects. Its how I always envisioned creating music! I host over 30 devices across 2 projects and every midi in and out on hapax-- It syncronizes and sequences everything flawlessly and is the device that lets me create music the way I want to.

The Hapax has become the brain of the studio - everything, old MIDI gear and drum machines, new synths and modular, integrates with it. I can sketch, loop, rearrange, be surprised... it brings it all together.

Hapax gives me the power to write and perform songs exactly how I imagine them in my head, with no concessions, compromises, or settling. The combination of the pad matrix along with two screens gives me as much control as I could ever want without feeling that I'm spending all my time squinting at a computer screen. The grid matrix makes writing drum parts almost comically fast; fast enough to jam in real time with other musicians! The four midi outs, along with the logical and immediate UI, makes it incredibly easy simultaneously connect a wide range of gear, allowing me to almost instantly bounce a melody or rhythm.

For my live shows for my album "Le jour et la nuit du réel", I needed a sequencer that would be capable of handling extremely long sequences in song form (more than 7 minutes) and could also send these sequences unquantized, all this with a clear layout and a relatively easy learning curve, as it was going to be my first sequencer ever. The Hapax has delivered all of this, and even better is the fact that I know this is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to its capacity to make sequencing an in-depth, adventurous process. I plan to use it for my 9th album during both the recording process and live shows, and anticipate it will stay in my setup for years.

The Hapax has significantly enhanced my ability to create more complex and engaging sequences, largely due to its algorithms and MIDI effects, which offer endless possibilities. There's an impressive array of tips and tricks to uncover. Itʼs truly transformed my workflow, especially with the ability to control my hardware synths and Eurorack systems while staying perfectly synchronized with Ableton Live. Managing hardware used to be a challenge, but since getting the Hapax, everything works seamlessly.

We love to use the Hapax on our channel. It's very intuitive to work with and a great tool to visualize and understand patterns. We find the zoom levels and dual project features super helpful - and it's fantastic to have two screens and so many dedicated buttons!

It's a war machine that I use to sequence my modular system, Ableton, and my generative visuals in TouchDesigner.
